Winegrowers Supplies  -  Pumps (centrifugal type)

Notes:-

The internal diameter of the hose must be large enough so that significant turbulence does not occur in the flow:-

20 mm internal diameter, up to 3,500 litres/hour,
25 mm internal diameter, up to 5,470 litres/hour,
32 mm internal diameter, up to 8,960 litres/hour,
38 mm internal diameter, up to 12,600 litres/hour,
50 mm internal diameter, up to 21,900 litres/hour,
60 mm internal diameter, up to 31,500 litres/hour.

Where pump speeds are stated (litres/hour), this is the maximum, at zero pressure. The speed reduces as pump-head-height increases, typically 5000 litres/hour would reduce to 3000 litres/hour at 2.0 bar pressure.
A bypass, where specified, will allow speed to be reduced and provide pressure control.

Note: these centrifugal pumps are often claimed to be 'self priming' but really the inlet hose need to be filled before they will suck, particularly if you wish to pump out from a barrel.
The length of hose on the inlet side of the pump needs to be as short as possible, also the pump bypass must be closed when starting.
In fact almost all pumps need to be primed. You can pour a jug of the liquid to be pumped into the inlet hose before switching on the pump,
or if working with barrels you could use the small vacuum pump of an Enolmatic to suck the liquid and fill the main inlet hose, then dip the main hose into the barrel and start the main pump.

Italian pumps:-

Novax pumps, 230 volt. Liquids must contain only very small particles, temperature up to to 35 °C.
The impeller housing is 'food grade alloy' not the bronze cheaper models:-

M20: with connectors for 20 mm id hose, up to 1800 litres/hour, 2850 rpm, 0.37 kWatt, 5 kilos,
M20 with bypass: with connectors for 20 mm id hose, up to 1800 litres/hour, 2850 rpm, 0.37 kWatt, 5 kilos,
M20B for beer up to 95 °C: with connectors for 30 mm id hose, up to 1800 litres/hour, 2850 rpm, 0.37 kWatt, 5 kilos,

I no longer sell these Novax pumps as there have been too many problems with them.

A far superior and reliable alternative is:-

   JIMG-5: £185.00
up to 3600 litres/hour, 230 volt, 370 Watt, AISI 304 stainless steel body, AISI 316 shaft, 1" bsp female threads,
plastic impeller, maximum liquid temperature 60 °C, max 6 bar pressure, max 8 metres pump-head-height.

optional bypass with stainless steel female hose-tail-connectors for 20 mm internal diameter hose, the inlet is horizontal:-

      £117.00   it works very well.

or a pump for higher temperatures:-

ALM 20: pump body, impeller and shaft all AISI 316 stainless steel, £369.00
                             up to 1680 litres/hour
, 230 volt, with internal bypass to reduce the flow,
¾" bsp male threads and hose connectors for 20 mm internal diameter hose,
                       maximum liquid temperature 90 °C, max 6 metres pump-head-height.
This has a nice slow and controllable speed. It has relatively high self-priming capability.
It is noisier than other pumps, especially with the bypass open.
The switch enables flow in either direction. IP44 motor protection.
Viton seals can be fitted, for pumping cleaning solutions or liquids at up to 130 °C, £32.50 extra

Option for the above pumps: wheeled-trolley to mount the pump on.

Prices shown are exclusive of Vat, as at July 2022.
Delivery will need to be charged at cost.
