Maintenance:

Before use the main spindle has to be greased with special food-grade grease, and again 
every 2 or 3 days during use. Weekly - oil the drive chain through the hole in the chain protection case.

Before starting:

Make sure there is nothing near the ends of the Press, as the long centre screw will come outwards.

Electrical connection: 

Make sure that the power supply is correct. To check that the three phases are wired correctly you must 
check the direction in which the press turns; indicated by a sign to the right of the control panel. 

Testing of the direction of rotation:-

1. Stand in front of the control panel. 

2. Free the large locking handle on your right hand side (which holds the cage). 

3. Set the power supply switch (on left hand edge of control panel) to '1' (on). 

4. Twist-release the red 'emergency stop' push-button (centre of control panel).

5. Set selection switch to "slow crumble".

6. Briefly press the white 'on' button.

- The press must turn clockwise/to the right (Auflockern/Loosen).

If the turning direction is wrong, then two of the three phase supply wires  must be swopped over 
in the mains cable.

NOTE: If you wish to switch to 'Fast Crumble' only do this when it the cage is already moving on 
'Slow Crumble'. Otherwise the power requirement/surge is massive.

Manometer and membrane housing:

The manometer and the pipe leading to the contact manometer are filled with glycerine. It is not recommended to drain it off, as glycerine doesn't freeze. If at any time the glycerine needs to be renewed, the drum must be turned so that the ventilation screw at the bottom of the drum is at the highest point. The ventilation screw should be removed and the screws on the manometer or on the switch box loosened. Now glycerine should be filled into the pipe so that glycerine is in the pipe as well as the ventilation opening. The ventilation screw is then screwed up again and the pipe screwed in firmly.

Motor brake:

The brake which is built into the motor has the function to ensure that when filling the press through the filling doors the press basket always remains in the required position.

Also a very precise emptying is possible as the brake acts quickly if the press is switched off or even if there is a power failure.

Programming the Automatic control:

Programme design is by experience, according to the crop.

For example - programme for a crop to be pressed very hard:-

Select pressing levels:            Set the switch    0.5 bar to position 2 (2 pressings)

                                           Set the switch    1.0 bar to on (vertical)

                                           Set the switch    1.5 bar to on (vertical)

                                           Set the switch    2.0 bar to on (vertical)

                                           Set the switch    3.0 bar to on (vertical)

                                           Set the switch    4.0 bar to on (vertical)

                                           Set the switch    5.0 bar to on (vertical)

                                           Set the switch    5.8 bar to on (vertical)

Set the 'Number of Re-Pressings' switch at 5.

Filling the press:

Make sure that the collecting vat is under the Press and connected to pump/tank.

As with all horizontal presses the press-cage should be at least half full. This is so that when only the press-cake is left there is sufficient of this to cover the pressure sensor and to ensure that the press-plates do not come too close together. When the quantity to be pressed is more than a press full, carry out a very light pressing programme (say once at 0.5 bar) then stop and add the rest of the grapes.

Switching on and setting the press for fully automatic control:

Check that the Press doors are closed.

Stand in front of the control panel.

Free the large locking handle on your right hand side (which holds the cage). Set the power supply switch (on left hand edge of control panel) to '1' (on). Twist-release the red 'emergency stop' push-button (centre of control panel).

Move selection switch first to 'Cancel' then on to 'Automatic'.

Press the white 'on' button until the first green control light lights up, according to what is set. The press will then begin to rotate after about 20 seconds, according to choice of programme.

At a setting of 0.5 Bar the press will only rotate at a low speed whilst pressing.

From 1.0 bar it first rotates fast and switches back to the slow speed when it reaches 0.5 bar.

In our programme the press runs slowly until it reaches a pressure of 0.5 bar then it switches off. Now begins the dripping time (set by the manufacturer at 2 mins). After this time the press rotates again and presses as the first time up to the selected pressure of about 0.5 bar. Now the dripping for two mins begins again. This process repeats as often as is set by the 'Number of Re-pressings' switch.

After the re-pressings the press quickly runs to a stop and crumbles until it reaches the exit-setting. Now it switches to the next position, in our example programme - a second time at 0.5 bar. Here also it runs slowly up to 0.5 bar, represses and crumbles. After the crumbling comes the pressing position 1.0 bar. From here the press runs with a fast pressing until it reaches the switchover pressure of 0.5 bar and then presses at a slow speed to 1.0 bar and switches off. After the re-pressings the press runs slowly to the switchover speed of 0.5 bar then goes into a fast crumbling run. This process repeats itself in all selected pressing settings. After carrying out the last pressing level set the press runs down and the automatic turns off. The programme is finished.

Emptying the press:

Make sure juice tray has been emptied.

With press plates in top position, take the covers/doors and hinge rods off (place these so they can't be damaged).

The press can only be emptied using the yellow 'hand' control switch, as after the covers are removed the automatic function and slow or fast crumbling are out of action.

To use this :-

             move selection switch to 'hand'

             briefly press white 'on' button, until it lights up

             the press cage can be rotated slowly using the yellow hand control switch.

After it turns a little the press-cake will fall downwards on to the ground or preferably on to a special trolley.

Interruption of programme:

If the programme is interrupted by a fault, power cut or by pressing the emergency stop button, the programme is stored. It can be set in motion again with a short press on the white 'on' button, until it lights up.

If there is a fault the red 'interruption' light shines. A fault can arise through over loading of the motor following a voltage loss or under-voltage of the main current. Examine the fuses inside the 'control panel', the blue buttons in the switchbox under the relays K18 and K19 must be pressed. After that by pressing the white 'on' switch the automatic programme can be set running again. The programme goes on from the point at which the fault occurred.
