Winegrowers Supplies  -  Crown capping

29 mm crown caps with plastic bidules (for 'champagne' bottles), bag of 200 for only £   minimum order 10 bags.

Super Max / Grifo: high quality hand operated capper with heads for 26 mm (beer) and 29 mm ('champagne') crown caps, weighs 9 kilos, £179

The capping head unscrews by hand, so it's easy to change from one size to the other.
Simply place a cap under the head, an inner magnet holds it in place, then position the bottle and pull down on the lever to crimp the cap on the bottle.

Someone who bought one from me, told me that he had capped 65,000 bottles in a year, the cog was starting to wear, so he bought another!

Semi-automatic machines for applying crown caps:-

MG TT: for applying crown caps or T-corks (model TTM), £620 (715 Euros)

With crown caps, the cap is placed directly under the head, which holds it in place by means of a magnet. Pressing the two push-buttons starts the capping cycle.

A special variant of this machine is that it can be equipped with a 'flat' head, tailored to T-corks to be inserted.

An option for the T-cork model is a Venturi device, which creates a vacuum under the head, so that the T-cork is held in place by the vacuum, £733 extra.
Without the Venturi device, the operator has to place the T-cork on the bottle neck before putting the bottle on the machine.
The Venturi device effectively enables the same functioning as the magnetic head does with crown caps.

Pneumatic operation, a compressed air supply at 6 Bar minimum is required.
Operated by pressing two side buttons simultaneously.

Suitable for glass bottles from 0.35 up to 1.5 litres.
Dimensions: 22 x 27 x 75 cm high. Weighs 20 kilos.
